She moved to Arkansas in 2016 to establish a clinical librarian program at UAMS. She has worked as a librarian for 17 years, starting as an Information Services Librarian and liaison to the College of Nursing and then moving into a clinical librarian position in Augusta, Georgia. Lindsay Blake, MLIS, AHIP is the Clinical Services Coordinator for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Her interests include outreach, consumer health, instruction and technology, health literacy, patient education and evidence-based research, mentoring, DEI, and leadership and management. She has worked with diverse populations promoting health literacy and consumer health education. In 2022 she was the recipient of the NNLM Emerging Leader Award. Brenda has also received several NNLM grants to collaborate and work on outreach projects to promote patient and consumer health education resources.

She a current member of the Mid-Continental Chapter of MLA also a member of the South-Central Chapter of MLA, where she currently serves as a member of the DEI Task Force. She was active in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of MLA. She was a co-founder of MLA’s Latino Special Interest Group (now Latinx Caucus). Brenda has served in a variety of capacities for the Medical Library Association (MLA), including serving as a member of the Continuing Education Committee and the Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA) Editorial Board.

In addition to this role, she serves as the liaison to the JMLA Editorial Board and member of the JMLA Equity Work Group. Brenda currently serves on the MLA Board of Directors. She loves working and building relationships with students, faculty, researchers, and the community. She is a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP). She also has a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Master of Business Administration from North Carolina State University. Brenda received her bachelor’s in finance from California State University, Northridge. She was previously the School of Nursing liaison at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
